2021 - February 20th - Chris P.

NOTE,  SMALL GET TOGETHER.

Hello everyone.

Sadly I (Nigel) have been unable to attend GTG's lately.

I don't think this will change anytime soon.

As such I would like to Thank all those that have been helping out by sending me pics and words to share here.

This meetings correspondent is from Peter A.

Many thanks to Peter :)

The QAC members who attended Chris Power’s QAC meeting had a wonderful time.

Chris has a very nice sounding system in his very small listening room.

Chris built the small two way speakers using what I believe are Fountek NeoCd2.0M-blk 5" Ribbon Tweeters and 6.5 inch Peerless Woofers.

He designed the crossovers using Clarity Capacitors from England.

The cabinets are his design and finish.

What a great combination.

The rest of his gear starts with either the 40 year old Pioneer PL1000 Turntable or way younger Onkyo CD Player.

The turntable signal flows through his Yaquin MM Pre-amplifier then into his Yaquin Linestage pre-amplifier, or with his CD player, straight into the pre-amplifier.

Chris uses his Yamaha AV Amplifier as a remote volume control somewhere in there.

Then into two separate ( KT88 and 6CA7) Yaquin Amplifiers to drive the speakers.

Chris has a single Scanspeak 10 inch Sub-woofer to complement these two wonderful speakers.

The speaker system portrayed a very wide soundstage and a lovely overall detailed yet very pleasing sound.

We were all impressed by the track after track played, especially vinyl.

We were very well fed too.

Those Costco Sandwiches and desert (Andrew’s favourite) went down very well with coffee.

Many thanks to Chris and his wife for catering and welcoming the small group of QAC member’s into their home.

Peter.
