2020 June - Dave & Marge C.

Due to the easing of the governments restrictions regarding the coivd pandemic,

We are once again able to hold Get Together's. Yay !

Daves meeting was restricted to 20 participants to satisfy the 1.5 meter Covid19 social distancing rule.

Yours truly was unable to attend, too many things to do around the home.
You'll be happy to hear I did manage to get a fair chunk done.

Ok maybe this doesn't interest you. But it meant a lot to me :D

On with the show :)

The following words and pictures were kindly donated by our fearless leader. Andrew.

Many thanks Andrew :)

As Peter Ashton could not attend, the sausage burning duties had fallen on my shoulders.

Many thanks to Howard Powell for volunteering to take over from me.

That gave me time to go around and take photos and check out the cheesecakes (yes, there were multiple, a yummy rum flavoured gateau made by Kylin Ljubic and also a Pavlova – I was in foodie heaven ).

Whilst I was doing that, Dave did a demo of different Beatles pressing of the same album, starting with mono pressings, then comparing U.K & Australian pressings and then concluding with a remastered pressing.

Dave’s audio setup in analogue based around his Linn Sondek turntable.

As you can see in the photos, Dave has thousands of LPs in his man cave, including many very rare pressings.

The wall art has to be seen to be believed.

There were certain “special” album covers displayed that drew much attention from the members present.

The beauty of a small get together meeting is that one gets the time to talk to all the members present.

We had a new member, Barry Vermeer join at the meeting.

What else can I say about the meeting?

The ambience was great, the music was excellent, the BBQ food was delicious and the desserts were out of this world.

We maintained social distancing and there were several bottles of hand sanitiser in various locations.

The small get together venue format was an overwhelming success.

I look forward to members coming forward to volunteer to host such meetings at their homes in the upcoming months ahead.

RSVP’s are essential for such meetings.

Several members RSVP’d and did not attend.

We reached maximum Covid 19 capacity for Dave’s meeting.

I would hate to turn a member away who wished to RSVP for a future meeting and then find that another member who had already RSVP’d did not attend the meeting.

So if you do RSVP for a future meeting and your circumstances change and you cannot attend, phone me or email me to inform me of your inability to attend.

Then I can then contact other members who may be on a waiting list for that meeting.

Andrew H.

Dave held a turntable and LP comparison based Small Get Together (SGT) meeting.

He demonstrated the audible differences between different pressings of the same artists,

(including Australian, UK, & USA pressings, Remasters, Half-Speed Masters and mono variants).
